The History of Luck School District
The first school was built at the current site in 1879 for a cost of $375. It was a white frame 20x28 foot structure built to hold 30 children. The first teacher hired was Kate Foster and was to be paid $150 for the year. The last day of school was May 31st 1880. In July of 1902 plans to build a new school were started. In 1903 the red brick school was finished at a cost of $1794. In 1938 a new addition was built for a gym, shop, music, home economics, and science departments. In 1951 and 1958 were additions of more classrooms. The old red brick school was torn down in 1965, and a cafeteria, new gym, and office were completed. In 1976 fire destroyed the old gym, music, science , and art rooms. In 1978 a new 55,000 square foot building was completed that provide much of today’s Middle school, and High school areas. The newer elementary wing first floor was completed in 1991, and the second floor in 1996.

1930 - Enrollment was 200
1933 - Bus service started
1938 - Large addition
1965 - Red brick school house torn down
1976 - The fire
1978 - New 55,000 square foot building
1980 - New bus barn, track, and football field
1991 - Addition of Elementary Wing -- Lower floor classrooms & office and extension of the elementary gym to provide bleacher seating
1996 - Upper floor of Elementary Wing completed and addition of Weight Room area by locker rooms
1998 - Interactive Television Classes begin
2009 - On-line classes added
2014 - 1 to 1 Computing for all high school students
2021 - School celebrates 100 years
2023 - Completion of FEMA/secondary gym addition and large remodel project
