Asbestos Notification
In compliance with the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Asbestos Hazard Emergency Response Act (AHERA), this is notice that the Luck School District has an Asbestos Management Plan at the school district office. The plan is available for inspection by the public, parents, and district employees. The district performs six-month periodic surveillance of asbestos and full re-inspections every three years. Education of Homeless Children and Youth
Children of homeless individuals and unaccompanied homeless youth (youth not in the physical custody of a parent/guardian) residing in the Luck School District, shall have equal access to the same free, appropriate public education as provided to other children and youth who reside in the Luck SD. Notice of Educational Options
The School District of Luck continues to use the Wisconsin Academic Standards to guide our teaching and learning (https://dpi.wi.gov/standards). Children who reside in the School District of Luck have the following educational options:
Attendance at resident public school in the School District of Luck, attendance at private schools participating in the Wisconsin Private School Choice program, attendance at state approved virtual schools, full-time open enrollment in the district of choice, course options, early college credit options, partial enrollment options for pupils enrolled in a home-based private educational program. Additional local options of choice include: School-based 4-Year-Old Kindergarten program.
Notice of Suicide Prevention Resources
Using the Department of Public Instruction notice, the District Administrator shall annually inform the professional staff of the resources available from the Department and other resources regarding suicide prevention. The District Administrator shall also implement procedures to obtain payment or reimbursement for professional mental health services provided by any licensed treatment professional.

The Board is committed to providing an equal educational opportunity for all students in the District.
The Board does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, ancestry, creed, pregnancy, marital status, parental status, sexual orientation, sex, (including gender status, change of sex or gender identity), or physical, mental, emotional, or learning disability ("Protected Classes") in any of its student program and activities. This policy is intended to support and promote nondiscriminatory practices in all District and school activities, particularly in the following areas:

use of objective bases for admission to any school, class, program, or activity;

prohibition of harassment towards students and procedures for the investigation of claims (see Policy 5517);

School Counseling and Academic and Career Planning
Academic and career planning services, including individualized support and access to software tools and staff assistance, shall be provided to students in grades 6 to 12. The mission of academic and career planning is to provide a comprehensive plan, which will be developed and maintained by a student, that includes the student's academic, career, personal, and social goals and the means by which the student will achieve those goals both before and after high school graduation. The District shall inform parents in each school year about what academic and career planning services their child receives.
School Wellness Policy Notification
The District will compile and publish an annual report to share basic information about the wellness policy and report on the progress of the schools within the district in meeting wellness goals. The District will actively notify households/families of the availability of the annual report through the District newsletter and website.
The wellness committee will update or modify the wellness policy based on the results of the annual progress reports, and/or as District priorities change; community needs change; wellness goals are met; new health science, information, and technology emerges; and new Federal or state guidance or standards are issued. The wellness policy will be assessed and updated as indicated at least every three (3) years.

Student Assessment Information
To opt out of these examinations, the student’s parent must submit a statement in writing to the building Principal stating that the parent is opting out of the examination(s).
Student Bullying
The Board is committed to providing a safe, positive, productive, and nurturing educational environment for all of its students. The Board encourages the promotion of positive interpersonal relations between members of the school community. Bullying toward a student, whether by other students, staff, or third parties is strictly prohibited and will not be tolerated. This prohibition includes physical, verbal, and psychological abuse. The Board will not tolerate any gestures, comments, threats, or actions which cause or threaten to cause bodily harm or personal degradation. This policy applies to all activities in the District, including activities on school property, including at any of the school buildings or other property used exclusively or in part, whether leased or owned by the District, for the purpose of school-related functions or events; or while traveling to or from school or to and from school-sponsored functions or events; in transporting vehicles arranged for by School District officials. The policy applies as well during activities that occur off school property if the student or employee is at any school-sponsored, school-approved or school-related activity or function, such as field trips or athletic events where students are under the supervision of school authorities, or where an employee is engaged in school business, or where there is otherwise a connection to the school such that the conduct at issue affects or is intended to affect the student’s educational environment.

Student Privacy and Parental Access to Information
Student Records
In order to provide appropriate educational services and programming, the Board of Education must collect, retain, and use information about individual students. Simultaneously, the Board recognizes the need to safeguard students’ privacy and restrict access to students’ personally identifiable information.
Title I
The Board elects to augment the educational program of educationally disadvantaged students by the use of Federal funds and in accordance with Title I of the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 as amended.
The District shall annually assess the educational needs of eligible children, as determined by Federal and State criteria. Such assessment shall include performance measures mandated by the Department of Public Instruction as well as those determined by the District professional staff, that will assist in the diagnosis, teaching, and learning of the participating students.
Title IX
Title IX of the Education Amendments Act of 1972 ("Title IX") is a federal law intended to ensure sex and gender equality and protect students against sexual harassment in all school programs and activities, including extracurricular, athletic and other programs, that occur at school, on the school bus, or off campus during school-sponsored events.
The Luck School District is committed to providing an environment where every student feels supported, welcomed and respected and as such shall not discriminate against any person on the basis of sex in any of its curricular, career and technical education, co-curricular, student services, recreational or other programs or activities, or in admission or access to any programs or activities offered by the District. It is the District’s policy to protect all students, regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity.
Use of Tobacco and Nicotine by Students
Wisconsin Act 96: Indoor Environmental Quality Management Plan
The Luck School District would like to inform staff, students, parents, and the public of the district’s indoor environmental quality (IEQ) management plan. The plan was initially developed in 2013 and is reviewed as necessary. The plan was developed as deemed appropriate for the district. Questions and concerns should be directed to the IEQ Coordinator. Copies of the plan are available at the district office for a fee. The district office is located at 810 South 7th Street, Luck, WI, 54853.
