July 28, 2020 Re: School Re-Opening Plan Dear School District of Luck Parents and Guardians: The School District of Luck Re-Opening Plan has now been posted online for students, parents, and the community after initial approval at last night’s regular Board of Education meeting.  The administration and board would like to make it clear that this is a fluid plan and the board does plan to review it once again on August 10 at a Special Meeting.  This meeting will allow the administration and board to review the plan closer to the start of the school year while still giving parents time to know the plan. The plan has been in development for well over a month with input from surveys, staff, and parents being included. The final plan is a collaboration between Polk County Schools, Polk County Health Department, and specific details unique to the School District of Luck.  The Re-Opening plan is focused on providing five-day a week of in-person learning in an environment that is as safe as possible.  The administration will continue to work on the details of a virtual option for those students and families that elect to not attend. The plan also focuses on the possibility of having to go virtual once again as a contingency plan. The plan is comprehensive with details about many aspects of the school day.  That being said, many of the specific details must still be worked out with staff and administration to allow the district to run as smoothly as possible. Flexibility will be important as there may be the need to change the plan as we move forward.  One change that has already been approved is the cancellation of Open House and Cardinal Academy.  The first day for students will be September 1. The district will work to communicate these changes as they become necessary in a timely manner and fashion. It is very important for your contact information to be up to date for the upcoming school year.  Please contact the district to ensure your phone number and email are up to date. The district will be sending out a survey after the August 10th Special Board meeting.  This survey will be important for technology, transportation, and programming decisions for your child(ren). Thank you for your patience as we work out the details of this plan. The School District of Luck is dedicated to having students back in the building as safely as possible to ensure the education process continues.  Your continued support through this process is appreciated. Luck Reopening Plan Parent COVID HANDOUT Sincerely, Cory Hinkel District Administrator
